Instead, this week, I’m going to do
a plug for author, Brenda Novak’s Annual Online Auction for Diabetes Research.
Brenda’s son has diabetes and she started the auction 10 years ago to help raise
money for Juvenile Diabetes Research. Over the ten years she’s raised over two
million dollars for diabetes research. The Auction goes for the month of May.-5-14Authors,
publishers, agents, writers, friends and others contribute awesome gifts for
the auction. You can get condos for vacation, Coach purses, jewelry, critiques
from authors and editors, meet authors and agents for breakfast and lunches,
and so much more. There are special daily deals and raffles.
I contribute a Canadian basket and I’d
love to have people bid on it. I cover the postage to mail it to whoever wins.
I also bid on a few items. Sometimes
I get them, sometimes i don’t. I managed lunch with one of my favorite authors,
Karen Rose. She’s a lovely lady.
So please, at least check out the
site and some of the many items listed.

And if anyone else has an item
listed, or has had experience bidding on an item, I’d love to hear about it.
I love this auction, and take part as a bidder every year. Same as you, sometimes I win, sometimes I don't but I love the worthwhile cause behind it and support it wholeheartedly. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your experience. And it's always fun to check out all the items.
DeleteI love looking at all the different items. I've never actually bid yet because it seems so overwhelming. There's always so much that I wish I could afford!!
ReplyDeleteI know the - afford - feeling, but they have things in all price ranges. And once you sign up the bidding process is really pretty easy.
DeleteI love Brenda's auction! I started out as a bidder years ago, winning critiques from authors like Sandy James, Elaine Grant and Cherry Adair--and WOW, what a great boost to my career.
ReplyDeleteI also won lots of other stuff like jewelry, books, and scarves.
For the last couple of years I moved on to bidding on formatting packages and that's how I published my first two books!
This year, I have a page of donations called Kathryn Jane's Beads and Books.... and yes, I'm also bidding on lots of items as well!
Wow Kathryn, you're a real supporter. I found your comment on formatting packages interesting. I think I'll check that out this year - and I'll check out your page.
DeleteFirst of all, thank you so much for your generous donation and being a great of the auction for many years! I love the auction and have been donating different items for my category Around the World, and I try to bid as much as I can. There are so many fabulous items!
ReplyDeleteI meant, thank you for being a great supporter of the auction for many years!
